Live @ Eclecticity 2010 Parts 1 and 2

So tonight i can finally get round to uploading my set from Eclecticity last month. I blame Chris for taking so long! Although to be fair he has done a really good job of converting the set and keeping the audio quality at a good level (it’s around 260 kbps). Before anyone gets the wrong idea and thinks this is actually the live gig audio, it’s not. It hasn’t been a miked up recording and caught audience noise, buzzing bass and crackly beats and all the other crap that comes along with it. No, what he done was simply record my set through Traktor while i was playing . So it’s a perfect, clear and audible version. Anyone who uses Traktor will know that it only deals in wav files when it comes to the recording function so these files have been converted to MP3 and Chris has very kindly chopped what was a 4 hour set into 1 hour or so sections. This will allow me to burn them onto discs and also make downloads easier.

Good Things Come To Those Who…

guinness-draft1

Today or tomorrow (depending on where you are in the world) marks the 250th anniversary of Guinness. It was on this very day in 1759 that Arthur Guinness poured his very first pint of Guinness and the rest they say is history…..

Some random Guinness facts:

Guinness is brewed in more than a 150 countries worldwide.

40% of all Guinness sales are in Africa.

It takes 119.53 seconds to pour the “perfect pint” of Guinness.

There are only 198 calories per pint of Guinness.

Technophobia

Technophobia is by far the loudest and most “sudden” of my mixes so far. There’s no introductions, no voice samples, no bridging between songs and no ending as such. The idea to make it came to me after i had my Ipod on shuffle and  a few songs came on back to back that just seemed to fit perfect together. And that was the birth of this mix. I decided on the name Technophobia because i could use it as a kinda double edged word. On one hand it could be used as a term for “fear of dance/techno music” and on the other it could be used to desribe the actual mix, as it’s technically not techno music i’m using (maybe i have a fear of techno, get it?). It’s more of an electro feel to it, albeit very heavy electro. Hope you enjoy.

Play it loud to annoy the neighbours.

Scared of....YES, THIS WOMAN HAS JUST HEARD THE TECHNOPHOBIA MIXTAPE….

2009: A Robot Odyssey

2009: A Robot Odyssey is my second mixtape. Yet again, recorded all in the one go and yet again under 1 hour and 2o minutes in duration (fits on a cd no problem).  On the first mixtape (VCPE) i went for an almost kinda rock vibe, electronic as well but mostly rock. So on Robots i’ve decided to go not quite as guitar orientated and tried my best to stick to a dancier side, although there are a few more rockier types in amongst the mix and they do work quite well alongside the rest of the tracks.

Once more i’ve decided to add bits and loop, cut and sample again over most of the songs to make them “edits” as such i suppose and not really remixes, there are a few that i’ve properly remixed, the rest are just edits though.

Just as VCPE had outtakes from some films, Robots does too. There’s also a small introduction and end speech by Microsoft Anna so listen closely. The mix starts off slowly then builds up. About 3 or 4 songs in i decided to use some more “commercial/poppier” material (AVH, Daft Punk, Soulwax etc) but then go back to more beat driven music. I had to do a slight edit on the last track by Black Strobe. Just shortened it down a bit to allow the mix to be under 80 minutes long. You might notice the jump in that track too. I can only apologise for that.

I;m gonna put this mix up on Mediafire soon so it will be available for unlimited download but for the moment just left click once on the mp3 below and it’ll open in a different page then simply right click and save target as.
