SIT WOLF: Top 30 Albums of 2010

The best albums of 2010, much the same as 2009, were ridiculously hard to narrow down into a final 30. But after much of the obligatory mulling over nominees and usual bits of chopping and changing positions i’ve finally got a Top 30 Countdown. It was a pretty spectacular twelve months in terms of music. Full of all sorts of aural delights.

As customary the countdown is from Numero 30 to Numero 1 and with a short little description of each album. I’ve tried to keep it to short as i’m pushed for time and it is a school night afterall so it’s early to bed tonight for me.

30. !!! – STRANGE WEATHER ISN’T IT?

A colourful return to form from the dance punk Cali-NY group.

29. GIL SCOTT HERON – I’M NEW HERE

There’s still life in the old dog yet. Putting most of todays young guns to shame with this “post-modernised” blues album.

28. FUTURE ISLANDS – IN EVENING AIR

Fresh and backed with the unique voice of Samuel T Herring this album provided Future Islands with a huge step towards global recognition.

27. NEDRY – CONDOR

Glitch laden, echo filled debut from this seemingly ever evolving trio.

26. BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD – SUMMER HEART

Released on Christmas Day, this was the perfect stocking filler from Blackbird Blackbird. A collection of dream pop classics.

25. HOLY FUCK – LATIN

Holy Fuck? Holy Funk more like. Instrumental lords at their best but with added funkability.

24. MEURSAULT – ALL CREATURES WILL MAKE MERRY

Epic, sombre, intriguing album from the Scottish lo-fi folk experimentalists.

23. BATHS – CERULEAN

A wonderfully textured body of work forms the debut of Will Wiesenfeld aka Baths.

22. WARPAINT – THE FOOL

The all girl four piece dropped one of the most anticipated albums of 2010 and didn’t disappoint with “The Fool”.

21. THE NATIONAL – HIGH VIOLET

It had been a while, so to say, since the indie kids favourite miserablists had released a full length effort and this summer release was a blinding reminder of what they’re capable of.

20. MOUNT KIMBIE – CROOKS AND LOVERS

Blending every type of music there is into just under 40 minutes may seem impossible to most. Not to these guys though.

19. THESE NEW PURITANS – HIDDEN

The sounds of a band truly finding themselves has never been more enjoyable.

18. BEACH HOUSE – TEEN DREAM

Beguilling and warm. This mysterious offering only makes me love Beach House more than i already did.

17. WILD NOTHING – GEMINI

Unmistakably influenced by the 80’s, this wide eyed debut from Jack Tatum and co is literally summer on a disc.

16. GAYNGS – RELAYTED

The compelling tribe of artists known as Gayngs were always going to give us something special with all the collective talent they have in their possession.

15. FLYING LOTUS – COSMOGRAMMA

Giving us another multi layered odyssey was always going to be the main target for one of the most consistent IDM artists out there. He succeeded in typical mesmerising fashion.

14. SALEM – KING NIGHT

Mysterious, cold yet tender and encapsulating. A chilling album from these dark hosts.

13. ERRORS – COME DOWN WITH ME

Following up debut album “It’s Not Something…” was always gonna be hard but Errors managed to seemingly effortlessly succeed. Never has electronic instrumental music sounded so cool.

12. SURFER BLOOD – ASTRO COAST

With vocal melodies and lyrics evoking a heavier Beach Boys this was one of the first albums of 2010 that made my ears prick up and pay serious attention when it came out last January.

11. TOBACCO – MANIAC MEAT

The main man from Black Moth Super Rainbow continues his solo project in style. Roping in Beck for some guest vocals on this aggressive 16 track LP.

10. EIGHTIES MATCHBOX B-LINE DISASTER – BLOOD AND FIRE

The Brighton legends returned to form and then some with this tight, well structured sonically enticing outpouring. Sprucing up a few older tracks and adding in some amazing new ones was the perfect way to keep there notoriously loyal fans more than happy.

9. FOUR TET – THERE IS LOVE IN YOU

Keiran Hebden never lets us down and last years album was no different. Maybe more tender/softer than previous releases in some areas and certainly not as complicated but still groovy enough to make you want to dance away to your heart’s content.

8. ARCADE FIRE – THE SUBURBS

The big one that everybody was and still is talking about. The album that turned Arcade Fire from indie playlist stalwarts to world renowned epic song possessing music Gods.

7. PANTHA DU PRINCE – BLACK NOISE

Another early bird, released in February ’10, that stuck around in my head all year long. An expressive and ever expanding work of art.

6. GOLD PANDA – LUCKY SHINER

Previous EP releases from Gold Panda gave us an idea of what was gonna be in store for his debut album but nothing could have prepared us for the twist and turns that “Lucky Shiner” slides through. It’s a story of an album. One that’s worth reading over and over again.

5. DEFTONES – DIAMOND EYES

There’s no doubt about it, the Deftones are timeless. Diamond Eyes was a long time coming. The band have been through a very tough time over the last few year and if anybody deserves to be praised this year it is them. Combining styles form all of their previous albums to create an elegant piece of alternative rock. Nobody does it as good as the Deftones. They’ve been around for over two decades but show no sign of slowing up and tracks like “Royal” show they still have that bite that all other modern rock bands envy. They’ve left their calling card once again.

4. MF/MB/ – FOLDED

This was a late discovery of mine last year. I’m honest enough to admit i’d never even heard of the band until a friend recommended them to me in the winter. And what a recommendation. The material on this album ranges from the simple stuff to the extravagant experimental stuff. Staying sublime the whole way through and not losing sight of the art rock/pop stylings.

3. KANYE WEST – MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY

The best word i can think of to describe this album is primordial. It’s the beginning of a new vein of hip hop and RnB. Jam packed full of special guests ranging from Jay Z to Bon Iver and full of ideas. It’s an essential listen from start to end.

2. 65DAYSOFSTATIC – WE WERE EXPLODING ANYWAY

Colossal riffs and beats as always from the Sheffield masters of post rock. Adding that little something different with each passing song. They’re gaining an ever growing fan base throughout the world and it’s easy to hear why. They’re at the forefront of everything that is modern instrumental music. They’re the pioneers of sonic brutality and this album shows that they plan on keeping that title for a long time to come.

and the WINNER of Best Album of 2010 is…..

1. O.CHILDREN – O.CHILDREN

The self titled effort form O.Children was pretty much a shoe in for Number 1 on this list from the moment i heard it. You’d need to reform Death From Above 1979 and get them in a studio with Queens of the Stone Age to make the best album they possibly could to even make me THINK about changing my mind on this one. Back to O.Children though, being named after a Nick Cave song meant they were always going to be dark/gothic but they’ve just taken dark and made it darker. Eerie in parts, atmpospheric and always moody and intense. They wear their influences on their sleeve (Joy Divison, Echo and the Bunnymen etc) and use them to carve their own niche. They embrace the miserable side of things and somehow turn it into catchy hooks and perfectly timed choruses. They’ve sombrely embraced the world and with this album as their introduction the world will surely return the favour. They deserve it.

I’ve made ZIP files with one track from each album and posted them on mediafire. Below are the tracks included and download links.

This Is When I Need You

This is nothing like it was in my room
In my best clothes
Trying to think of you
This is nothing like it was in my room
In my best clothes

The English are waiting
And I don’t know what to do
In my best clothes
This is when I need you

The English are waiting
And I don’t know what to do
In my best clothes

I’m the new blue blood, I’m the great white hope
I’m the new blue blood

I won’t fuck us over, I’m Mr. November
I’m Mr. November, I won’t fuck us over

I wish that I believed in fate
I wish I didn’t sleep so late
I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders

I’m the new blue blood, I’m the great white hope
I’m the new blue blood

I won’t fuck us over, I’m Mr. November
I’m Mr. November, I won’t fuck us over

I wish that I believed in fate
I wish I didn’t sleep so late
I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders

I’m the new blue blood, I’m the great white hope
I’m the new blue blood
I won’t fuck us over, I’m Mr. November
I’m Mr. November, I won’t fuck us over

I Hope I Become A Ghost

I’ve decided i’m keeping with the Halloween theme until it arrives so for the rest of the week there’ll be posts assosciated with Halloween type stuff.

It was the Phantoms turn yesterday so today it’s time to open up the old “do you believe in them or not?” debate….

I had fun searching through my hard drive for “ghostly” songs. I had a lot more than i thought i would’ve. I picked a select few and tried to keep the musical styles as varied as possible. Just right click and save as to download.

MP3: Bombay Bicycle Club – Ghost

MP3: Pulled Apart By Horses – Get Off My Ghost Train

MP3: Parts and Labor – Ghosts Will Burn

MP3: Shiny Toy Guns – Ghost Town

MP3: The National – Anyone’s Ghost

MP3: Broken Records – Ghosts

MP3: Summer Camp – Ghost Train

MP3: The Golden Filter – Frejya’s Ghost

MP3: DJ Shadow – Giving Up The Ghost

MP3: Harlem – Friendly Ghost

VIDEOS

Some of my favourite ghost related videos…

My favourite song about ghosts (not in a pervy way! i’m not into paranormal sexual encounters!) is….

MP3: Maybeshewill – How To Have Sex With A Ghost

And here’s a little video from a few Halloween’s ago of myself playing that well known theme tune…

I have a feeling i’ve posted that video before but who cares. It’s worth it for the memories.

Tomorrows post will be Zombie related. Be sure to come back and have a peek…if you’re not too scared .

Are Friends Eclectic #2

Sorry it’s taken so long to get the second episode of this up.

There’s been a few new questions added in and there’s a word assosciation section at the end as well. I already have the next interview lined up, it’s taking place next week with my flat mate Gustav. So that should hopefully be up next weekend.

And on with the interview…readers, meet Emma…

SIT WOLF: Describe music in 5 or less words.
EMMA: For fucks sake i didn’t know it was going to be some sort of philosophical conversation.
SIT WOLF: Hahahahaha! That’s going in!
EMMA: That’s not 5 words but put it in if you like. I don’t like that question. If you slightly changed the question to “What do you like most about music in 5 words?” then i could totally do that and reference Almost Famous at the same time.
SIT WOLF: Ok, well, go with that. *sighs*
EMMA: To begin with, everything.
SIT WOLF: Thank fuck that’s out the way. This is gonna be a long interview.

SIT WOLF: What was the first album you bought?
EMMA: The S Club 7 debut album, in fairness i was very young.

SIT WOLF: What was the last album you bought?
EMMA: Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams.

SIT WOLF: What are your views on illegal downloading/file sharing?
EMMA: I personally don’t do it. But the overriding reason is not moral, it’s more for fear of computer viruses. But i do use Spotify and i have no objections to people sending me stuff they have downloaded. I have mixed views really. On one hand it’s a great way for smaller bands to get recognition, but conversely, i think selling CDs is the primary source of income for most bands. But it really pisses me off when bands like Metallica take it so seriously because A) they’re hugely rich anyway and don’t need the money and B) nobody should pay to have to hear their music. It’s terrible.

SIT WOLF: What was your very first gig?
EMMA: Blink 182 at the Braehead Arena in 2004.

SIT WOLF: What was your last gig?
EMMA: The 7th of May this year The National and Pavement in Paris. Amazing.

SIT WOLF: What’s the next gig you’re going to?
EMMA: So far the only one i have lined up is The National at the 02 Academy in November. I’m not a fan of gigs really. Most of the crowd are made up of assholes and sometimes that can ruin the songs. I prefer to listen to an album as it is, the way it should be.

SIT WOLF: If you were stuck on a desert island and told that you could only listen to 3 albums over and over again for the rest of your life, what would they be?
EMMA: “Automatic For The People” by R.E.M and for a bit of variety i’d go for the Vanilla Sky soundtrack. I couldn’t choose between either “Alligator” or “Boxer” by The National. Don’t make me choose!

SIT WOLF: What 3 songs are currently on constant rotation on your IPod/MP3 Player?
EMMA: “So Alive” by Ryan Adams, “Visions of Johanna” by Bob Dylan and The British Sea Power track “No Lucifer”.

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite remixes?
EMMA: I don’t really listen to a lot of remixes to be honest. I quite liked the Dahlback remix of Death From Above 1979’s “Romantic Rights” and the remix of The Nationals “Secret Meeting”. A 3rd one at a push would be the Lady Gaga/Nirvana mash up.

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite films?
EMMA: To Kill A Mockingbird. It’s a very comforting film and you see it through the eyes of the child. Also, Gregory Peck plays the most perfect character in the world. Secondly, Vanilla Sky. I love all the film and song references throughout the movie and it has an amazing soundtrack. The twist at the end is really good as well. Third one would be The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, i love the way it’s filmed and it’s really uplifting.

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite websites?
EMMA: http://thisrecording.com/, http://www.amazon.co.uk/and http://www.overheardinnewyork.com/

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite blogs?
EMMA: I don’t want to be biased here so i’ll leave out my friends blogs. So the others would be http://magicmolly.tumblr.com/, http://whatwearesupposedtodo.tumblr.com/ and http://bluefugate.tumblr.com/

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite cover versions.
EMMA: Jeff Buckley doing “Hallelujah”, Ryan Adams version of “Wonderwall” and the version of “Song To The Siren” that features in the film Candy.
SIT WOLF: J’adore Ryan Adams take on Wonderwall.

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite music videos?
EMMA:  “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M because it’s a childhood memory and did you know that it’s based on the short story “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also love the new video for “Bloodbuzz Ohio” by The National. They send themselves up in it, playing up on their whole serious, depressing side. My favourite scenes are the ones on the park bench and when he’s lying on the grass with his feet in the air. Lastly, i’ll go for TV on the Radio and “Dreams” for the sole reason that i couldn’t fit them into the desert island question!

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite TV shows?
EMMA: Arrested Development, My So Called Life and 30 Rock.

SIT WOLF: Do you play an instrument? If so, which one?
EMMA: Yes, guitar. Although i haven’t played in ages. But i remember chords and stuff, it’s like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it.

SIT WOLF: If you could make a Supergroup (5 members) that you’d love to hear who would be in it and what would their name be?
EMMA: It would fall apart immediately because the people i would choose would be egotistical songwriters. I’d go for Jeff Buckley, Ryan Adams and either Bryce or Aaron Dessner. Bill Berry on drums because i believe he was secretly the mastermind behind R.E.M. I don’t really know much about bass but i’m gonna go for John Paul Jones because he’s clearly capable and he seems cool as fuck. For a name i’ll go with The Band #2.
SIT WOLF: Good band. Boring name.

SIT WOLF: Give me and the readers 3 bands that you think we might not know but we should check out?
EMMA: Alexi Murdoch. He’s Scottish, He did the soundtrack for “Away We Go”.  A guy called Doveman. And finally N.A.S.A. They’re an indie hip hop group. How surprised are you right now?! There’s lot’s of guest members on the album “The Spirit of Apollo” but it’s really good for putting on before a night out.

SIT WOLF: What would your ideal gig be (3 bands)? And where would it be?
EMMA: Can i pick 3 gigs i wish i was present at then put them together to make the ideal gig?
SIT WOLF: Yeah, sure.
EMMA: Bob Dylan at the Albert Hall in 1966, Jeff Buckley at Sin-E in 1992 and Interpol anywhere in New York in 2002.
SIT WOLF: And whereabouts would this congregate?
EMMA: The Oran Mor in Glasgow

SIT WOLF: Who are your 3 favourite writers?
EMMA: JD Salinger, EE Cummings, F Scott Fitzgerald.

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite books?
EMMA: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins and The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.

SIT WOLF: What songs best encapsulate your moods?
A) Happy
B) Sad
C) Angry
D) Lonely

EMMA:
A) Beach Boys – “Sloop John B”
B) The full album “Love Is Hell” by Ryan Adams
C) Fugazi – Merchandise
D) Ryan Adams – Does Anyone Wanna Take Me Home?

SIT WOLF: Who, in your opinion, are the 3 most attractive males in music?
EMMA: Matt Berninger, he seems like such an adult. He writes sexy lyrics and he’s tall . Stephen Malkmus because his arrogance attracts me. Jeff Buckley, he seemed really nice and he was super talented.

SIT WOLF: Who, in your opinion, are the 3 most attractive females in music?
EMMA: Zooey Deschanel, she’s just really hot. The twins from School of Seven Bells and the singer in my friends band, i can’t remember her name though.

SIT WOLF: What are your 3 favourite album covers?
EMMA: “Boxer” by The National, “Turn On The Bright Lights” by Interpol and Neil Young “Harvest Moon”.

SIT WOLF: What word best sums your musical tastes up?
EMMA: Invariable

WORD ASSOCIATION: SIT WOLF words in bold. If anybody doesn’t know how to play word association (which i’m sure everybody does but i’ll explain anyway) it basically involves someone saying a word and you instantly reply with the first word that comes to mind.

AMERICA – Neil Young
BLOOD – Alkaline Trio
SIT WOLF: It doesn’t have to be music y’know?
EMMA: I know! Carry on.
CHRISTMAS – Tree
DANGER – Red
ECSTASY – Love
FAILURE – Shit
GOD – Not real
HATE – Blue
INNOCENT – White
JOHN – Funny
KISS – Nice
LOVE – Red
MUSIC – Yellow
NEW YORK – Love
OLD – Smell nice. Old books i mean, not people!
PEOPLE – Hate
QUIZZES – Awesome
REGRET – Lauren
SING – Audrey Hepburn
TOAST – Butter
UP – Down
VENUE – Smoking
WEATHER – Rain
XYLOPHONE – Kids books
YOU – Hungry
ZULU – eh…Zoolander

So…..

MP3: Bob Dylan – Visions of Johanna (Live At RAH ’66)

MP3: British Sea Power – No Lucifer

MP3: Ryan Adams – So Alive

MP3: Peter Gabriel – Solsbury Hill (featured on Vanilla Sky OST)

Seeing as R.E.M are signed to the fuckwits at Warner the video for “Losing My Religion” isn’t embeddable so here’s a live version.

Idle Days In Summertime

Today i gave my heart away.

I fell back in love with being lazy. I supposed it was only a matter of time before we reconciled and what better time than the summer.

I spent the whole of this afternoon lying in the park with a farmers daughter (*) and some friends listening to some brilliant albums (on what was the best plug in and play speakers i’ve heard so far) and talking about general nonsense. It was an idyllic afternoon by anyone’s standards but one that was especially nice for me. I’ve been needing a day like today for ages.

I had two options when i woke this morning. Go through to Luss for a day out with Morgan and her family/friends or go to the La Fete De La Musique in the west ends Ashton Lane. The annual Glasgow West End festival kicked off on the 7 June and i’ve been lucky enough to take in a few bits of it so far and to be honest the music festival did sound appealing but i declined both in favour of lying on the grass and cloud watching. Luckily i convinced Simon and his on/off partner to join me in lazing around all afternoon, well at least until 7pm. That’s when they went along to Ashton Lane to join in the festivities. To be fair Simon does know a few of the DJs playing it so it’s understandable that he should go along. Me? I lay in the park for another half hour before the munchies kicked in and i made my way through the gardens and back to the flat. The sun was still splitting the trees. I love summer.

When i got back i made some pancakes and smothered them in nutella then polished off the bitesize jammy dodgers i bought on the way home.

As for now? Well i’m doing this post, gonna roll a few more smokes then i need to decide whether or not i should go to a party tonight. I’ve been invited to a house party that is literally 5 minutes round the corner from me. But i only know 3 people out of the apparent 77 who are going so i’ll either need to get really drunk and chatty or just do the usual and sit silently and get stoned and secretly plug my iPod into the sound system in without anyone knowing. Also according to Simon i’ll need to make an effort and dress nice as there will be plenty of “talent” there. Eh, no thanks man, i’ll stick to the tramp look. The world’s an ugly place so let’s keep it that way.

Here’s some tunes that we listened to in the park this afternoon….

MP3: Japandroids – Younger Us

MP3: Incubus – Are You In

MP3: DJ Shadow – Giving Up The Ghost

MP3: Jamie Lidell – Completely Exposed

MP3: Maelstrom – I Long To Be Free

MP3: Foals – Spanish Sahara (BangaTang Remix)

MP3: The National – Bitters & Absolut

Of all the things we had a stoned talk about in the park today there was one strange subject that kept everybody amused….Google. Google and the hours of endless fun it can give you. I don’t mean the fun that you can have by browsing endlessly all day. No, i mean the amount of  “Google Games” that everyone can play.

Example:-

A) Google your name and the word “needs” [i.e. JOHN needs]
B) Click search
C) Record the first 10 results

According to Google i need….

1. John needs 13 bottles of water from the store.

2. John needs father.

3. John needs charisma.

4. John needs a better wig.

5. John needs a better online ingredient.

6. John needs to tone down that profile.

7.  John needs our help!

8. John needs to get his patootie back here.

9. John needs a job.

10. John needs an acoustic guitar.

Another game, which is one of my favourites is “Question Google”. Type in “why”, “what”, “when” or “who” then follow that with a “are” or “is” and any letter  and be bewildered/amused by the amount of unbelievably strange suggestions that get fired at you.

WHY?

are Michael Jacksons kid white
are British people so ugly
are Americans so stupid
are adverts louder than programmes (i SO agree!)
are Jamaicans so fast
are Qwerty keyboards in that order
are men attracted to breasts
are Jews so successful
are x’s kisses
is there a dead pakistani on my couch
is belly button fluff blue (Whaaaaa? Who asked this? Someone from fucking Avatar?)
is Google racist

and last but not least, my personal favourite.

Why is water wet?

Well enough of this hazey tomfoolery. I’m off to listen to some Kyuss and make a decision on this party. On one hand it’ll be good to get out and meet new people but on the other hand i’m loving lounging in these combats and over sized tshirts with some weed and cans of Tennents. I’m scared that if i do go to this party it might be shite and ruin an erstwhile pretty glorious day. Yet again it might be the perfect ending to it. I’ll report in the morning.

Music and Lyrics #2

1. MEW – 156

“Don’t you just love goodbyes?”

From my boat, i can see your house
And when the lights are on
I can watch you move
Hear the wind whispering your name
Twice the encouragement of the real you

Callie, if you really want me to
I can always get you down
If you got the money for me
Callie, in the summer rain
You and me can dry, you see
If you got the money for me

Making amends for distant wrongs, sincere

You can run away
Leave your books behind you
But you should look back twice
Just to be on the safe side

From my boat i can see your house
But now the lights are off
There’s no one home

You are just like an avalanche
Cold as I might have guessed
But at least I’m covered up for now

In a big big way i am really small
I get off my feet but i’m still distant

Don’t you just love goodbyes?
Don’t you just love goodbyes?

Callie, let us get it over with
I can always get you down
If you’ve got the money for me
Callie in the summer rain
You and me can dry, you see
If you’ve got the money for me

Most of our lives we try so hard to find the time

I won’t care for you
Like I’m really supposed to
There are things I’ll do
That could really hurt you

Don’t you just love goodbyes?
Don’t you just love goodbyes?

Don’t you just love goodbyes?

2. THE XX – NIGHT TIME

“We’ll talk about it soon”

You mean that much to me and it’s hard to show
It gets hectic inside of me when you go
Can I confess these things to you
Well I don’t know
Embedded in my chest and it hurts to hold

I couldn’t spill my heart
My eyes gleam looking in from the dark
I walk out in stormy weather
Hope my words keep us together
Steady walking but bound to trip
Should release but just tighten my grip

Night time
Sympathize
I’ve been working on white lies
So I’ll tell the truth
I’ll give it up to you
And when the day comes it will all have been fun
We’ll talk about it soon

And I couldn’t spill my heart
My eyes gleam looking in from the dark
I walk out in stormy weather
Hope my words keep us together
Steady walking but bound to trip
Should release but just tighten my grip

Night time
Sympathize
I’ve been working on white lies
So I’ll tell the truth
I’ll give it up to you
And when the day come it will have all been fun
We’ll talk about it soon

3. TWILIGHT SINGERS – FORTY DOLLARS

“She Loves You, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah”

suckers swallow every time, airplane come erase your mind
seems there’s been an accident, telephone cost ya fifty cent
to find out the retail, gory detail
nothing here for me, i get all of my kicks for free

mangy dog without a collar, buy me love for forty dollars
i got love for sale, come on get some before it gets stale
again, i win, the double for a lie, i get my money on the fly
we’re throwin’ down, so come on by, i’ll be around

i got 3-6-9, another dollar makes a dime
y’all in double dutch again, notify your next of kin, i said

mangy dog without a collar, buy me love for forty dollars
i got love for sale, come on get some before it gets stale
now, love don’t mean a thing, but 2am and a telephone ring

love is all you need, and all you need is love
love is all you need, and all you need is love
we go underground, cos there’s emptiness above
she loves you yeah-yeah-yeah
she loves you yeah-yeah-yeah
she loves you yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah

i’m just bein’
i’m just bein’
i’m just bein’
i’m just bein’
honest

4. THE NATIONAL – BRAINY

“You might need me more than you think you will”

I’ve been draggin around from the end of your coat for two weeks
Everywhere you go is swirlin, everything you say has water under it

You know I keep your fingerprints in a pink folder in the middle of my table
You’re the tall kingdom I surround
Think I better follow you around

You might need me more than you think you will
Come home in the car you love, brainy brainy brainy

I’ve been draggin around from the end of your coat for two weeks
You keep changing you’re fancy fancy mind every time I decide to let go

I was up all night again, boning up and reading the American dictionary
You’ll never believe me what I found
Think I better follow you around

You might need me more than you think you will
Come home in the car you love, brainy brainy brainy
you might need me more than you think you will
come home in the car you love, brainy brainy brainy

5. LONGWAVE – SIRENS IN THE DEEP SEA

“You’re the only one that can”

I’ve been trying to reach you, oh
I’ve trying to get through, oh
It’s so hard to let you know
I’ve been trying, yes, it’s true, oh

You’re the only one that can
The lonely one again
You’re the only one that can
You are alone

I’ve been swimming in the deep sea
Sirens come up to greet me
But it’s not so good to be

The only one that can
The lonely once again
You’re the only one that can
You are alone

You’re the only one that can
The lonely one again
You’re the only one that can
You are alone

You’re the only one that can
The lonely once again
You’re the only one that can
You are alone
You are alone
